little-feet1There are many options in terms of laboratory and imaging tests when it comes to male and female fertility evaluation. Hormone and Imaging tests are most helpful when interpreted according to Integrative Medicine Principals.  A combination of Eastern and Western diagnostics can be used to determine the fertility patient’s profile and measure treatment progress. It is important for patients to have a working knowledge of commonly ordered fertility tests, so they can be their best health advocate.

Hormone Tests

Dr. Rozenn often uses Quest, Lab Corp, ZRT, Meridian Labs and Diagnos-Techs laboratories for blood, urine and saliva hormone tests. Levels of fertility hormones in your system are constantly changing, so WHEN you get your lab work done is almost as important as WHAT test is preformed.

Critical Fertility Hormone Tests for Women Include:

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

Estrodiol (E2)

Testosterone (T)

Prolactin (Pr)

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)

3-Day Progesterone (P)

7-Day Post Ovulation Progesterone (7DPO-P)

Antimullerian Hormone (AMH)

Comprehensive Thyroid Panel

Comprehensive Adrenal Panel

T w:babyFor under-insured patients or those without insurance coverage, Dr. Rozenn can offer most tests at a substantially reduced rate through her participation in the Professional Co-Op, a doctor’s group which negotiates drastically reduced blood test prices.

Given that fertility is related to whole-body vitality, Dr. Rozenn will often order lab tests that give her background information regarding her patient’s overall well-being such as a Comprehensive Metabolic Profile which is composed of:

Red and White Cell counts

Liver Function and Enzymes Levels

Lipid Panel

Imaging Tests for Men and Women

Dr. Rozenn has learned through years of experience that a semen analysis should be preformed by a fertility clinic as opposed to a general laboratory. Often laboratories that are not fertility specific can give substandard semen specimen interpretations, lacking in important parameters such as:

WHO and Strict Kruger Semen Analysis

Details on Morphology

Accurate Interpretation of Seminal White Blood Cell Counts

She can also order pelvic/ovarian/uterine imaging tests for women through fertility clinics such as:

Antral Follicle Count

Saline Ultrasound

Hysterosalpingogram

This test enables Dr. Rozenn to diagnose complex conditions such as Adrenal Fatigue. Adrenal panels are also an excellent tool for diagnosing and treating androgen excess in Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOS). Another test that may be instrumental in facilitating the shift from patient to parent is the Comprehensive Food and Environmental Sensitivity Panel. This panel has the ability to look for food and environmental allergens and “sensitivities”. Prior to the development of this panel, intolerances could only be sussed out through an elimination diet; the results of which can be difficult to determine. Food sensitivities can be contributors to thyroiditis, failed embryo implantation, endometriosis, semen agglutination, autoimmune problems and many other reproductive issues. Integrative Medicine Evaluation

Central to Dr. Rozenn’s ability to help her patients is her advanced education, experience and her ability to interpret Western tests she (or other reproductive medicine experts) orders according to Integrative Medicine Principals. Not only does she rely on the same Western diagnostic testing a reproductive endocrinologist may use, she also employs Classical and Traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine diagnostic tools of pulse, tongue and abdominal diagnosis. Additionally, she utilizes Basal Body Temperature (BBT) charting which has been incorporated into Chinese medicine hospitals in modern China. Dr. Rozenn blends all of this information into a treatment plan to guide her patients down their path towards family building.
